Movie Overview
Jared, the son of a Baptist pastor in a small American town, is outed to his parents at age 19 and is faced with an ultimatum: attend a gay conversion therapy program – or be permanently exiled and shunned by his family, friends, and faith.
Adapted from the memoir by Garrard Conley about his painful experiences in a Christian anti-gay conversion camp for teenagers in Arkansas, Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe play the deeply upset Christian parents of 18-year-old Jared (Lucas Hedges) with Drector Joel Edgerton putting himself in the role of the unspeakable camp director, Victor Sykes.
